Before you download the free self-love workbook. It is important to understand what self-love really is.
What is Self Love?
Self-love is defined as the act of valuing yourself and your own well-being. It is about accepting and appreciating yourself for who you are and embracing your unique qualities.
When you have self-love, you honor your feelings, needs, and desires, which allows you to live a more authentic life.
Self-love can be cultivated through simple activities like positive affirmations, reflection, and acts of self-care.
What is Included in the Free self-love workbook?
The free self-love workbook includes 5 days of different sections that will help you dive deep into exploring your relationship with yourself.
Each section has a different focus and journal prompts and exercises to help you along the way.
Things to consider before starting the free self-love workbook
1. Get to know yourself better
You’re the only person in this world with your own thoughts, feelings, experiences, and dreams. You are unique, and there is no one else like you. Getting to know yourself better will help you understand more about who you are and what makes you happy.
It took me years before I started to recognize myself for who I actually am. Before that, I was focused on pleasing my friends, family, and my partner. In the meantime, I struggled to identify who I really am and what I wanted as an individual.
That’s why I suggest you start thinking about yourself and working towards the person you actually want to be, not what others want you to become.
You can get started by keeping a journal of your thoughts, opinions, ideas, goals, etc. Spend more time reflecting on how you feel about your work, relationships, goals, and life in general. Write down your thoughts about what makes you happy and what doesn’t, as well as your strengths and weaknesses.
2. Accept yourself for who you are
Self-acceptance is defined as “an individual’s complete acceptance of all of their attributes, positive or negative.” Accepting yourself for who you are is the foundation of self-love. When you truly accept yourself, you embrace all parts of yourself, including your quirks, faults, and any past mistakes you made. Seeing beauty in our flaws helps us embrace who we are and work towards making changes in our own life.
No one is perfect, and all of us have faults. However many of us try and ignore our weaknesses and faults, and pretend like they don’t exist. Ignoring your weaknesses, and mistakes don’t make them magically disappear. It is acknowledging and accepting them which gives them less power over your life.
Loving all parts of yourself means that you have to first accept all parts of yourself – both positive and negative.
Mindful meditation in particular is a great way to practice self-acceptance. Mindful meditation teaches you to accept and stay in the present moment without judgment. This gradually trains your brain to accept both the positive and negative in your life without making judgments.
3. Forgive yourself
When you don’t forgive yourself for past mistakes or bad decisions, it can lead to self-loathing and feelings of inadequacy. In this case, you may feel as though you don’t deserve love or happiness.
Feeling shame about past mistakes you have made, makes you withdraw and prevents you from making future positive changes in your life. That is why it is so important to forgive yourself for your past mistakes – because that is the only way you will be able to truly learn from them.
As for myself personally, I used to look back at my past and regret so many of the things I did. It is when I started to let go of the guilt and shame that I forgave myself.
Today I don’t regret any decisions I made in the past, because they all served to teach me something. Let go of what happened in the past, think of the now and what you can do to become the best version of yourself.
4. Focus on making positive changes in your life
Self-love also involves creating a life for yourself that you are happy with. This means doing something every day to improve yourself. Doing things to improve yourself doesn’t mean that you don’t love yourself for who you are. It simply means that you love yourself so much that you are always trying to do what is best for yourself
While achieving everything that you want in life can take some time, there is always something small that you can do to make a positive change in your life. For instance, practicing gratitude every night before you sleep is such an easy change to make in your life, and it can have a huge impact. Eventually, all the small positive changes you are making will add up, and you will begin to achieve all the things you previously dreamed about.
It’s important to focus on the positive things we’ve done and will continue to accomplish, no matter how small or big they may be. That’s why we recommend celebrating all your accomplishments no matter how small.
5. Practice Self-Care
It is important to make time for yourself because if you don’t, no one else will. A good place to start would be with simple self-care practices, which include activities like taking a bath, enjoying a hot cup of tea, and having dinner by yourself. Anything that helps you relax and unwind.
There’s no doubt that self-love can be challenging and time-consuming sometimes. but it can also be fulfilling if you allow for it to be. Self-care is a way you can show yourself that you are important and worthy of time, and effort. Just the way you would do nice things to show other people you love them, do it for yourself. Taking care of yourself is an act of self-love.
We are so much more than what society expects of us, let’s learn to embrace who we are!
